Elk River Fire Station #3 provides fire suppression services to the newer developments in the eastern part of Elk River. It utilizes CMU bearing walls with concrete spread footings and a steel joist roof structure. Major space types include the apparatus bays and support spaces, training tower, large divisible classroom, dayroom, dining and kitchen spaces, offices, shower rooms, a physical training room, mezzanine and a tornado shelter.

The building is at a state of readiness 24/7/365. The station is the base of operations for approximately 30 firefighters. There are 10 parking stalls for first responders and 35 parking stalls for the public or for firefighters arriving at the station for a non-emergency reason.
