This multi-year project included construction of 12,015 sf of passive student housing at Lilac Hill (107 new beds) and 39,301 sf of student housing at Union Street (77 new beds). The intent of the project is to create more equitable residential living and learning spaces on campus in both condition and quality. Terra updated or replaced houses that do not meet current housing and efficiency standards as Carleton College makes progress toward a goal of 20% townhouse/house-style living options. Additionally, there are community spaces to support interest and cultural housing programs and building community among its diverse student populations.

The project is Phius Certified, a passive building certification that focuses on the dramatic reduction of energy use for space heating and cooling.
